RSSThe US National Ignition Facility (NIF) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory attempts to achieve nuclear fusion by hitting a tiny target with intense lasers. The target contains a polished capsule about two millimeters in diameter, filled with cryogenic (super-cooled) hydrogen fuel.
